Subject: Port Ludlow Resort BuildOut
Attention: 'AI Scalf-Jefferson County Department of Community Development
Eleven years ago my wife and I purchased a lot, built a small home within the
context of the Port Ludlow Village and became moderately active in
the"village beside the bay." Each year arrived with the certain feeling that another
proposal for carving up one of truly beautiful areas in the Northwest would
arrive with grandiose plans for a destination resort. Unfortunately, each new set
of plans involved changing residential and recreational density to meet the
aspirations of investors in the planned resort concept. Now we face an
estimated 56.5 % increase in total proposed residential units {condominiums plus
additional residences}, revocation of previous promises for recreation and water
front access and a virtual obliteration of the "village" concept in return for
highly questionable roadways, tightly packed condos and pedestrian hazards
galore! We urge you to point out earlier definitions of density and recognize
that the current proposals for residential units will bring with them
pedestrian and vehicular hazards, disappointed visitors to Port Ludlow and the joys
of Jefferson County and another failed venture in mass marketing.
Thank you for your attention to the potential for a high quality "buildout"
as defined in earlier plans supported by the citizens of Port Ludlow and
please place density in the forefront of the problems facing us in Port Ludlow.
Sincerely, Bill and Margaret McLaughlin 74 Wren Court , Port Ludlow
