Dear Mr. Fischbach: The Port Ludlow Village Council is requesting that you and the County Commission review the matter of hearings scheduled by the Department of Community Development on January 17-18, 2006 for the PLA project known as the major resort revision. The location of the hearings has been announced as Joseph Wheeler Theatre at Fort Worden Park in Port Townsend. We request that those hearings be held in Port Ludlow at either or both ofthe major meeting facilities here. The Major Resort Revision is of considerable importance to Port Ludlow residents and the Council requests consideration from our county commissioners in locating the hearings considering the Revision here in Port Ludlow. A large number of residents have attended community briefings by the developer, responded to the Draft Environmental Impact Statement, responded to mailings from the developer and by the Ludlow Bay Committee of the Village Council. In November 2005 more than 200 community members attended a public forum sponsored by the Council. This project is of vital interest to the community. The Village Council was formed and incorporated to, among other duties, represent the interest of the community to the public and to government entities. As the representative body of Port Ludlow speaking to our government we are requesting that the Jefferson County Commission consider this request. The Commission can indicate its support to the Port Ludlow community and its awareness of the significance of this major decision in the future of Port Ludlow and can recognize the importance of community in input in the development process in achieving a development which will have great impact on the economic viability and quality of life of Port Ludlow and Jefferson County long into the future.
