Check the PT Leader today as they have a similiar article on Port Ludlow. I'll be off until next week. I merely remarked about the effect of rumours that disparaged Mr. Loomis on the appeals. While the appeals are unrelated, the person originating the rumour clearly intended that the person hearing the rumour connect the dots, that is see the appeals as part of an improper scheme of Mr. Loomis. As I said, the appeals are and always have been independent of Mr. Loomis. I do not believe Mr. Loomis ever had a conversation with Mr. Verrue with the content described in the rumour that Mr. Rodgers related to Ms. Van Zonneveld. However, as you know, rumours have a life of their own. This one clearly has and had the potential to influence the staff's review because it cast doubt on the Appellants' motives. I hope we acknowledge that we agree on some of those positions and that we do not agree on others. AND that is OK. First, I am concerned with the view of staff and their role in reviewing projects. I am protective. They work hard, they have too much to do. But excuses don't cut it. DCD has alot of people/citizens just like yourself, who are involved in all kinds of issues and need our attention. Staff is dedicated to following the codes and the comp plan. The laws. Stuff happens with humans. You're right, they're wrong. They're right, you're wrong. Galt was wrong the first time, but right the second time. Galt was wrong the first time and wrong the second time. We all need to be more creative and dynamic than this. 1/13/2006 LOG ITEfVI #~ 7 _,~.__~"__~, Page .1 of.:> _..."',,....=~.. " -,,,,,,,_..,,~._.,, Page 2 of 2 Staff has nothing to gain. We don't have $ involved. We don't live their. Our intellectual ego's may be tried by the debates or our pride is weakened by our errors. Latimore found that we react to this climate of demand by adding a finding, being overly careful, writing lengthy staff reports in fear of missing something. Too a fault. Some people think he was wrong. I do remember Irv and Jerry (project planner) carefully going over the revisions and vesting questions relative to Ludlow Cove phase I. I wasn't sure that Irv was going to allow the revisions or the vesting, but he did. I don't believe anyone just gave PLA a free lunch. Nor would PLA tell you that they have free reign with DCD. The email from Greg yesterday on a building permit review being hung up off of Resolute Lane was more litigious than some of your outbursts. Port Ludlow is in flux. Is the community vision inconsistent with the codes and plans? Is the community heading to a UGA then a City. Or, do they wish to stay this "existing" MPR. Or do they want to lower the limit on build out to 2,000 MERU's? I can't answer those questions. Nor would I recommend a big planning project in Port Ludlow, as there seems to be a common element to open things up every few years, which doesn't allow things to establish any momentum.
