Box 1220 Port Townsend, WA 98368 Subject: Public Hearing on Major Revision to Port Ludlow Resort Area Dear Mr. Fischbach: I am writing to you on behalf of the Ludlow Maintenance Commission (LMC) Board of Trustees who represents the interests of approximately 1100 lot owners, homeowners, and condominium owners in the North Bay portion of Port Ludlow. We are a homeowners association of approximately 2000 members. The LMC Board of Trustees and the LMC members in the North Bay are very concerned about the impact of the proposed major revision to resort area that has been submitted to Jefferson County for approval. The total application includes individual applications for a Boundary Line Adjustment, an Administrative Code Interpretation, a Shoreline Substantial Development Permit, and a major Resort Plan Revision. The LMC is in receipt of a Jefferson County public notice setting the public hearing on the application for January 17 and 18th, 2006. Further, the public notice states that the hearing will be held at the Joseph Wheeler Theatre at Fort Warden State Park. This hearing is of great importance to the Port Ludlow community and many want to be able to attend the hearing and give testimony. Many in our community are elderly persons that are not able to travel and sit through 2 days of testimony but would like to hear the initial testimony by the County and the developer and have the opportunity to give their individual testimony. The LMC Board of Trustees would therefore respectively request that the location of the public hearing be changed to Port Ludlow so that more of the community may participate in the hearing. We would propose that the meeting be split between the North and South Bay areas. The Bay Club in the South Bay area of Port Ludlow is available for the January 17 meeting and the Beach Club in the North Bay area is available for the January 18 hearing. Both the Bay Club and the Beach Club are set up for the conduct of public meetings and have all of the necessary audio equipment. The Bay Club can hold over 200 people and the Beach Club can hold aver 130 people. Both the LMC and the SBCA will work with Jefferson County personnel to assure you have the necessary equipment set up for the conduct of the meeting. Movement of the public hearing to Port Ludlow will demonstrate to the Port Ludlow community that Jefferson lOG 'TEM #3-~ 1/1312006 Page _."~~~-ot-a_ .. Page 2 of 2 County is interested in receiving wide public input on this important public hearing. It is very important that the major revision to the resort area is done to the desires of the community since we will have to live with the results of this development. The movement of the public hearing to Port Ludlow has the support of the total Port Ludlow community including the LMC, the South Bay Community Association (SBCA) and the Port Ludlow Village Council (PLVC). We look forward to a positive decision on the location of the public hearing and trust that the interests of the community will be the most important consideration in your decision on this request. Sincerely, Bruce Schmitz President, LMC Board of Trustees 1/13/2006 lOG fTEM #_35' 1 PagEtJZ;:."o(=~=
