Subject: Minor Revision to the Resort Plan

Please register my dissent to the minor revision proposed to the resort plan permitting PLA to sell the convention
center here to a third party for alternative use. While I do not object to religious use, I do object to the elimination
of one of the facilities that is important to support the hotel operation at the resort. I think the consideration of the
conversion needs to be combined with the consideration of the resort plan as a whole. The plan provides for a
new convention center. That would be eliminated by the proposed major revision. The result would be no resort
center sufficient even to hold small conventions. While PLA may dissent Pope's view of the importance of the
convention business, I do not think this change has been considered sufficiently to allow the change without the
further consideration of its effect on the resort. A 37 room hotel does not create a destination resort. Small
business conventions do support golf and other business.
Please provide me with any studies and analysis done by the staff in response to this proposal. Please also
inform me if the minor revision is approved of the timing and nature of any appeal rights I might have.
