WHEREAS, Chapter l8S, Laws of 1969, First Extraordinary Session, authorized the Board of County COmmissioners to require persons benefiting from the vacation of County roads to compen~ate the County as a condition precedent to any $Ucb,.Jvacation, and WHEREAS, the referenced legislation au-tborized the. Board of County Commissioners to classify all County road~, and it is the intent of this Ordinance to so classify the roads of this County; NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY ORDAINEO, that for purposes 'of Chapter 1.85, Laws of 1969~First Extra()rdinary Session (codified in RCW 36.87) the County roads of Jefferson County are hereby classified as follows: (lX Class 1 - All CQtmty roads for which pUblic expeIX1iture.were made in the acquisition, improVeDem: ,el mintenance. (2) Class 2 - All County roads not inCl\Xiet\ in Class 1. IT IS FURTHER ORDAINED that compensation for vacation of a County road shall be required as follows: (1) Each petition tflrVacation of ,a County mad' shall be accanpani~ by a deposit of CNEHlH)RED am OO/lOO,($lOO~OO). Specifically, a motion was unanimously adopted, recommending that your Board take steps to initiate a program for classifying roads in order to meet all the criteria and requirements for obtaining compensation for road vacations. It was suggested that County Engineer, Mr. Becker, is not doubt familiar with state enabling legislation for such a classification/compensation system.
