HomeMy WebLinkAbout03 75 ORDINANCE NO. ..5'- fJ~ AN ORDTI'JANCE REGlJIKi'ING 'l'HE SPEED OF V"ESSEIS ON 'I'HE WA'lERS OF THE lAKES OF JEFli'EHSON COUN'I'Y . ~VHEREAS, the increased use of the lakes of Jefferson County for swirrming, fishing, pleasure OOating and other water uses has created dangers to life and property of persons using the said lakes: NeW, THEREFORE, I'l' IS HEREBY RESOLVED AND ORDAINED as follows: (1) It silall be unlawful to operate any vessel on the waters of any lake in Jefferson County at a rate of speed greater than ten (10) miles per hour. (2) It shall be unlawful for any person to operate any vessel in a manner which endangers or \\Ould be likely to endanger any persons or property. (3) Definition: The word "vessel" as used herein shall mean any toat or other contrivance used or designed for rlavigation on water, including seaplanes. (4) It shall be the duty of the Sheriff to enforce the provisions of this Ordinance. NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING REGARDING REGULATION OF THE SPEED OF VESSELS ON COUNTY LAKES NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Jefferson County Board of Commissioners will conduct a public hearing at 10:30 a.m., Monday, September IS, 1975, in the Commission Chambers, Jefferson County Courthouse, Port Townsend, Washington, for the purpose of obtaining the comments of all interested persons on the proposed ordinance regulating the speed of vessels on the waters of the lakes of Jefferson County which reads as follows: ORDINANCE NO. An Ordinance regulating the speed of vessels on the waters of the lakes of Jefferson County. WHEREAS, the increased use of the lakes of Jefferson County for swimming, fishing, pleasure boating and other water uses has created dangers to life and property of persons usi~g the said lakes: NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED AND ORDAINED as follows: (1) It shall be unlawful to operate any vessel on the waters of any lake in Jefferson County at a rate of speed greater than ten (10) miles per hour. (2) It shall be unlawful for any person to operate any vessel in a manner which endangers or would be likely to endanger any persons or property. (3) Definition: The word "vessel" as used herein shall mean any boat or other contrivance used or designed for navigation on water, inculding seaplanes. (4) It shall be the duty of the Sheriff to enforce the pro- visions of this Ordinance. When a violation of this Ordinance is made in the presence of the Sheriff or a Sheriff's Deputy, said Sheriff or Sheriff's Deputy may board any vessel and may arrest the violator.
