OV' - ~ December 2005 SUMMARY Assists Bookkeeper II and III positions with the bookkeeping activities for various Public Works funds, processes financial transactions and retains records by performing the following duties. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Assists in entering invoices into computer, print and file vouchers, and disburse warrants to vendors. Contacts vendors to review accounts and answers questions. Assists in maintaining records of equipment and rental rates, and data entry of new equipment, material usage from time sheets, equipment, gas, diesel and parts usage from the shop. Assists with invoicing other County departments for equipment rental, materials usage and labor costs. Assists with researching records for vendor payment histories, payroll information, grant billing information and project expenditure histories. Catalogs files and administers a final detail posting reports. Deposits and codes revenues for various funds including records of facilities rent payments. Processes and reconciles Parks campground revenues. Processes and enters cash receipts and prepares revenue transmittals. Reconciles Treasurer's receipts with transmittals. Reconciles petty cash bank statements. Provides various personnel with computer printouts ofprojects and budget status. Assists with maintaining accounts receivable customer database, prepare customer bills and mail out. Works in a team based environment. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Associates Degree (AA) in accounting or related business program; OR High school diploma or GED and two (2) years experience in governmental accounting; OR Four (4) years related experience in accounting with some governmental accounting and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. MA THEMA TICAL SKILLS Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. REASONING ABILITY Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. COMPUTER SKILLS: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of database software; internet software; spreadsheet software and word processing software and the ability to learn specialized accounting software. CERTIFICA TES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Valid Washington State Driver's License OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES Knowledge of theory and practice of governmental accounting principles, methods of payroll, accounts payable, and secretarial processes. Ability to use standard office equipment such as a typewriter, personal computer, copy machine, facsimile machine, calculator and other general office equipment. Ability to operate effectively under pressure to meet strict deadlines. Ability to handle confidential information pertaining to payroll and personnel records. Ability to perform assignments under conditions of frequent interruptions, and crowded surroundings. Ability to perform work accurately and independently in a responsible manner.
