ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties, within the scope of traffic control, may be assigned. Performs traffic control in work areas; places signs, directs traffic, assist motorists at various sites, as directed. Participates in annual training program and annual performance evaluation process. Participates in self directed team process to set work level expectations, goals and objectives. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This job has no supervisory responsibilities. QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and experience in traffic control and/or flagging; or equivalent combination of education and experience. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. MA THEMA TICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. CERTIFICA TES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Valid Washington State Driver's License Successful completion of traffic flagging course. Required to renew Flagging and Traffic Control Card every 3 years. First Aid/CPR certification required. Page 2 of3 Jefferson County Job Description: Flagger OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Ability to successfully complete various required training classes and obtain certificates necessary for functional skills performance, maintenance and improvement. Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions and terrain. Familiarity with tools, instruments, equipment and techniques commonly used in the performance of tasks. Ability to quickly grasp new techniques, deal with rapid changes in events, remain clam in stressful situations, and relate to various personality styles in a calm, professional manner. Familiarity with hazard recognition and other techniques in traffic control.
