WHEREAS, RCW 42.56.580 states each state and local agency shall appoint and
publicly identify a Public Records Officer; and,
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 21-18 was approved on May, 2018 adopting policies for
the conduct of business related to Public Records Act Compliance Policy, including defining
"Public Records Officer"; and,
WHEREAS, the Public Records Administrator duties include the potential to serve
as the County's Public Records Officer;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Jefferson County Board of
County Commissioners that the Public Records Administrator is hereby appointed as the
Public Records Officer for Jefferson County, effective immediately.

SUBJECT: RESOLUTION No. re: Appointing Public Records Administrator as
Public Records Officer
STATEMENT OF ISSUE:
Board approval is requested of a Resolution appointing the Public Records Administrator as
Jefferson County's Public Records Officer. The Jefferson County Public Records Administrator
position was approved April, 2017.
The job description for Public Records Administrator also states "may serve as Public Records
Officer." Staff requests the Board formally appoint the Public Records Administrator position as
the Public Records Officer for Jefferson County.
Resolution 21-18 Public Records Act Compliance Policy states "Public Records Officer" means the
person who is appointed as Public Records Officer for Jefferson County pursuant to RCW 42.56.580.
FISCAL IMPACT:
This request has no fiscal impact.
RECOMMENDATION:
That the Board of County Commissioners approve the proposed Resolution appointing Public Records
Administrator as Jefferson County Public Records Officer.
