The Coalition commends Governor Inslee for including $120 million for WWRP in his recently-released budget for the 2023-25 biennium. If funded at this proposed level, it will represent an all-time record for this critical funding program, providing an important investment in our environment and one of the state’s largest economic engines: the outdoor recreation economy. “In a tough budget year, we are thrilled that Governor Inslee has recognized the critical nature of outdoor recreation and conservation to the lives and well-being of all Washingtonians,” said Christine Mahler, Executive Director of the Washington Wildlife and Recreation Coalition. <https://wildliferecreation.us9.list-manage.com/track/click?u=0f4ebc0827fada7e62b54ea21&id=056846c62f&e =8c3506b728> <https://wildliferecreation.us9.list-manage.com/track/click?u=0f4ebc0827fada7e62b54ea21&id=dbc36859bd&e=8c3506b728> Read more <https://wildliferecreation.us9.list-manage.com/track/clic k?u=0f4ebc0827fada7e62b54ea21&id=bef79e9bf2&e=8c3506b728> <https://mcusercontent.com/0f4ebc0827fada7e62b54ea21/images/747babe5-36cb-4012-e37b-322e521696b1.png> Register for Legislative Day 2023! I am a fresh Washingtonian, having moved to Tacoma in July. Since I arrived, I have been actively seeking new friends, good eats, and hangouts. Campfire Coffee has been my favorite place to pop in to on any of my walks through the city. Quincy and his staff have made me feel right at home every time I have walked through their doors. They make delicious coffee with character and are dedicated to Washington’s outdoors. They’ve got a special blend of WWRC coffee that supports our work that you can buy HERE <https://wildliferecreation.us9.list-manage.com/track/click?u=0f4ebc0827fada7e62b54ea21&id=50c47186af&e=8c3506b728> ! <https://wildliferec reation.us9.list-manage.com/track/click?u=0f4ebc0827fada7e62b54ea21&id=64c19c7025&e=8c3506b728> If you’re feeling even more generous in this holiday season, we’re also mailing a bag of this blend to every donor who gives over $150 to the WWRC <https://wildliferecreation.us9.list-manage.com/track/click?u=0f4ebc0827fada7e62b54ea21&id=7114f0fe38&e=8c3506b728> before the end of the year. <https://mcusercontent.com/0f4ebc0827fada7e62b54ea21/images/f72ba46b-3dda-e7b3-b7eb-e7c726f33cd8.png> 12 Months of the WWRP: Farmland Preservation This month's featured project is Mount Adams Community Forest. The Mount Adams Resource Stewards used this grant to purchase about 194 acres of community forest along Outlet Creek on the ancestral land of the Qwû’lh-hwai-pûm (Klickitat), Cayuse, Umatilla and Walla Walla people. The property adds to the existing Mount Adams Community Forest located in Klickitat County, Washington. This property provides outdoor recreational opportunities, although the primary purpose is a working community forest. A land reclamation project and a series of dams have brought the Klamath River salmon populations to the brink of extinction. But the Yurok are fighting back. Propped up by their ancestors, and the recent success of the Klallam Tribe on the Elwha River, the Yurok are using their sovereignty to fulfill their sacred obligation to bring the dams down and restore the river.
