I did, also, read through the new code and thank you for including it. I look forward to a meeting with the Fire Marshall when the time becomes appropriate in the Spring. Your help in setting this meeting up will be greatly appreciated. In the past, when required, I have filed for permits and have no problem doing so again. I’m so glad you, family and friends have enjoyed watching the display in the past. We think the gentleman who orchestrates the fireworks is quite an artist. So, let’s try to keep it going!! Our new code language, effective March 14, 2023 is here <https://www.codepublishing.com/WA/JeffersonCounty/html/JeffersonCounty08/Jefferson County0875A.html> . I have read through this again and it seems the best path forward it to get a permit for your display. I am happy to meet with our Fire Marshal, Brent Butler, with you to find the best pathway for your display – which I enjoy with my friends and family each year. Let me know if you want me to set up a meeting, * Heidi From: jdshold3746@gmail.com <mailto:jdshold3746@gmail.com> <jdshold3746@gmail.com <mailto:jdshold3746@gmail.com> > Sent: Saturday, December 24, 2022 5:29 PM To: Kate Dean <KDean@co.jefferson.wa.us <mailto:KDean@co.jefferson.wa.us> >; Heidi Eisenhour <HEisenhour@co.jefferson.wa.us <mailto:HEisenhour@co.jefferson.wa.us> >; Greg Brotherton <GBrotherton@co.jefferson.wa.us <mailto:GBrotherton@co.jefferson.wa.us> > Subject: 2023 FIREWORKS ________________________________ ALERT: BE CAUTIOUS This email originated outside the organization. I am not aware of the final outcome of this proposal. If it is truly going into effect in 2023, I am requesting exemption for the Annual(20+) 4th of July fireworks show I put on . I feel every precaution necessary is taken to provide a safe venue for the show. A professional pyrotechnician purchases the fireworks, all class “B” (like those sold by the Tribes every year) in Montana, they are legally transported to my property, loaded onto a barge which is then anchored offshore from my property on Port Townsend Bay in Lower Hadlock. The fireworks are then ignited remotely from shore at dark. Our whole community enjoys watching, whether from the “Green spot”, the Alcohol Plant, their boats(but not too close, tho), Lower or Upper Hadlock or Irondale. For the above reasons, if a ban in in place, I request an exemption or special permit so I might continue to provide a safe and beautiful fireworks show for my guests and our community’s enjoyment. Hoping you all had a wonderful Christmas Holiday and are looking forward to a Happy New Year. Sincerely, Duke Shold
