Support preservation in Washington State in the coming year and beyond With the complex challenges preservation faces today—climate change, housing, social justice, and more—saving the places that matter in Washington State is more critical than ever before. In recent years, we've seen wildfires endangering homes and businesses and floodwaters damaging downtowns across the state. In cities across Washington, affordable housing is scarce, affecting our most vulnerable residents. Entire neighborhoods face cultural erasure as infrastructure projects reshape the landscape and the social fabric of our communities. Preservation can and should play an important role in addressing these issues. We have the tools to make a difference: adaptive reuse, thoughtful development, inclusive storytelling, and intentional policymaking. Here at the Washington Trust, we pledge to be at the table with elected officials, developers, and community organizers, fighting for stronger and more resilient communities through preservation. If these issues matter to you—if preserving the places that matter in Washington State matters, no matter the challenging circumstances we face—we ask you to consider supporting our work. With only two days left in 2022, make a year-end donation to the Washington Trust.
