"Genevieve and Robyn are important new additions to the dedicated KPTZ family, and we all are so pleased to have them on board,” says Kate Ingram, KPTZ General Manager. Genevieve is KPTZ Promotions Coordinator, handling community media partnerships and overall station publicity. Robyn is the station’s Development Director, in charge of Enhanced Public Service Announcements (EPSAs) and Underwriting. Robyn moved to Port Townsend in 2016 and became part of KPTZ’s captive audience from the get-go. She opened a small bed and breakfast in 2018 and tuned into the station for guests to listen while breakfast was being served. She felt then that KPTZ’s programming was the perfect way to immerse visitors in the heart and soul of Port Townsend. In past lives, Robyn was a fundraiser for Nature Bridge, she served as Marketing and Communications Manager for Amazon, and as Program Manager for Hewlett-Packard. Genevieve moved to Port Townsend after receiving a B.F.A. in Acting and Directing in 2018 from the University of Montana. She worked for the YMCA as Food Security Coordinator, leading numerous hunger relief programs in Jefferson County focusing on transportation and expanding family nutrition. Genevieve has experience at local and national theater companies, and directed Men on Boats in 2019 and As You Like It in 2022. She is a founding member of a new Jefferson County Theater Company, and now works also as Alumni Network Coordinator for Centrum. If you have not yet made a recent contribution to KPTZ, we would greatly appreciate your support at this critical time, when we are revving into high gear to move ~ finally ~ into the new station at Fort Worden. The mailing address to send donations by check is P O Box 2091, Port Townsend, WA 98368, and this button links to KPTZ’s secure online donation form. <https://kptz.us10.list-manage.com/track/click?u=6df05bfd2eaa0ab6bf92aa5cf&id=19bbad8671&e=eba4e3a8b6> ONGOING PROGRAMMING SUNDAY <https://mcusercontent.com/6df05bfd2eaa0ab6bf92aa5cf/images/679e9d32-321f-9518-5097-f90e6cd1784c.jpg> PROGRESSIVE TRACKS with Mike “ProgTracks” Pollack Sunday 5-6am and Monday 9-10pm Mike has been playing “All the music your spouse can’t stand” for over 9 years now. You’ll hear what’s new in the world of Progressive Rock, with a touch of Fusion, Psych/Space, Avant, and Desert/Doom thrown into his aural stew. Shows often feature “Golden Tracks Albums” which, of course, will be from 1972, throughout this year! January 1 “Best of 2013 REDUX" Mike dusts off his very first Best of Show for 2013. This was originally aired 1-5-2014. January 2 “Best of 2014 REDUX" Mike dusts off his Best of 2014 show. This show originally aired on 1-5-2015. January 8 “Best of 2022 - Part One" Mike airs the first part of what he considers the best music of 2022. January 9 “Best of 2022 - Part Two" Mike airs the second part of what he considers the best music of 2022. <https://mcusercontent.com/6df05bfd2eaa0ab6bf92aa5cf/images/fe3793aa-3be3-1ba8-4c80-30c0c990e8be.jpg> OUR TOWN with host Maryanne McNellis Alternating Tuesdays and repeats the following Sunday, both 12:30-1pm January 1 Maryanne interviews Mitch Draper, aka “Mitch the Trapper.” Otters devastating your boat? Raccoons nesting under your deck, trying to make lunchmeat of your cat? There is now a licensed Wildlife Control Officer for Jefferson and Clallam Counties. Contrary to popular belief, it is ILLEGAL to capture a wild animal and drive it miles away. State research has determined that about 90% of such relocated animals starve a slow, painful death. Mitch is licensed and tries every humane method possible to get rid of the animals — loud music, strong smelling peppers, etc. Sometimes there is a “final solution.” but even that is tightly regulated by the state. Mitch is a local guy, grew up in Brinnon, and has hunted since he was a kid. Now his hunting has become professional. Email Mitch <mailto:mitchthetrapper@outlook.com> January 10 / 15 Maryanne interviews Dr. Joseph Meyerson, plastic surgeon and hand surgeon at Jefferson Healthcare. He initially wanted to become a veterinarian, but med school and brain surgery seemed much more appealing. Then he discovered the infinite variety of the field of plastic surgery. It meant over 12 years of medical training and taking on a huge load of student debt. Dr. Meyerson doesn’t do strictly “cosmetic” surgeries. But he does repair faces that are damaged by fire or cancer. He does “reconstructions” literally from head to toe. He calls it “getting people back on the spectrum of normalcy.” His work inspires gratitude from patients and their families. CLASS REUNION with DJ host Jerry Osborne Sunday 2-3 pm January 1 1940 Class Reunion January 8 1950 Class Reunion January 15 1960 Class Reunion RETRO COCKTAIL HOUR with Darrel Brogdon Sunday 5-7pm An eclectic way to enjoy your Wednesday night. Here you'll find vintage recordings from the dawn of the Hi-Fi Era – imaginative, light-hearted (and sometimes light-headed) pop stylings designed to underscore everything from the backyard barbecue to the high-tech bachelor pad. Darrell Brogdon serves up two hours of incredibly strange music! The Retro Cocktail Hour comes to KPTZ from Kansas Public Radio. CATS IN OUR LAPS with host Phil Andrus Sunday 7-10pm Cats in Our Laps is a radio variety show which features live and recorded music, interviews, and readings. Each week host Phil Andrus brings in a guest artist or two, sometimes into the KPTZ studio but more often on Zoom. Appearing on each show is Cats’ in Our Laps Poet Laureate Deborah Kate Hammond, a marvelous curator and reader of poetry, and Al Latham, who reads the tea leaves we call the “weather forecast”. January 1 While host Phil Andrus is away, Alex Henley presents Tossed Salad Gems, his selection of excerpts from the Tossed Salad archives. January 8 Catherine Stone will bring a reading from her home in Victoria BC, quite likely on a scientific theme. There will be two featured artists, both guitarists, Ryan Ayers and George Kuo. Ryan has appeared on KPTZ several times, both in the studio and by Zoom from his home in Los Angeles. His style very much reflects his training as a classical guitarist, though his recent recordings <https://kptz.us10.list-manage.com/track/click?u=6df05bfd2eaa0ab6bf92aa5cf&id=7d8ded5c47&e=eba4e3a8b6> reflect a jazz sensibility: George Kuo will be bringing the acoustic sounds of the Hawaiian Islands, coming to Cats via Zoom from Honolulu. This YouTube clip <https://kptz.us10.list-manage.com/track/click?u=6df05bfd2eaa0ab6bf92 aa5cf&id=99e6eb0d23&e=eba4e3a8b6> has a holiday season theme. January 15 Our reader for this Sunday’s show is Missy Nielsen, whose readings are especially directed to the young and the young-at-heart. She may well bring a youngster with her to accompany her reading. The guest artist will be Hampus Gronberg, a multi-instrumentalist who resides in Gothenburg, Sweden. Not only does he play multiple instruments, but he includes multiple genres, with a special interest in Irish music. This YouTube clip <https://kptz.us10.list-manage.com/track/click?u=6df05bfd2eaa0ab6bf92aa5cf&id=7bfdc9311a&e=eba4e3a8b6> shows him at his best. MONDAY MUSIC FROM THAT CARDBOARD BOX with host Donn Trethewey 8-9:30am January 2 You might ask, “So, when will I hear Tommy Reilly play (on the harmonica he learned to play as a POW in a German camp) Faure's Pavane?” Followed by Krystian Zimerman and the LA Philharmonic doing Chopin.
