President's Message
To Olympic Discovery Trail Supporters and Friends:
With the arrival of 2023, we will be celebrating 35 years of trail building.
Given the support and friendship you have all provided in the past, we sincerely hope you will feel a personal sense of pride for the year’s accomplishments and a sense of excitement
for what we can achieve together in the year, and years, to come.
“In reflection, this note cannot continue without first acknowledging the sad, passing of the fellow who, more than any other individual, was responsible for the vision of the ODT and
the founding of the Peninsula Trails Coalition—Mike Langley. We feel his loss deeply, but we also take pride in knowing how successful we continue to be in pursuing that vision of
Mike and his fellow founders.”
I won’t take time and space to list the many items of progress during 2022, other than to say that we are successfully, if slowly, growing our organization and that the year has included
quite a bit of table-setting for progress in 2023 and beyond.
In 2023 you’ll be hearing from us about:
* A new trail being added in eastern Clallam County
* The nitty gritty advance work being done to add further ODT in ‘24 & ’25 (and beyond)
* Trail maintenance staffing
* Some precedent setting work we have begun, on a regional basis, to further not only the ODT vision, but also its integration into the cross-country Great American Rail-Trail. <https://email.mg.olym

This all amounts to a wonderful way to be celebrating your 35th Anniversary year.
On behalf of the entire PTC board, we thank you again, and wish you all an outstanding year ahead.
