Dear Commissioners,
I strongly support making a public declaration recognizing the rights of our Southern Resident orcas. This group of whales has dwindled due to hideous kidnappings and killings in the
1970s, added to current problems with loss of chinook salmon runs and noise and water pollution. Such long-term damage requires serious efforts at remediation, starting now! Please
make this declaration to help show the way other localities can speak up for the orcas (and salmon). Thank you.
