Despite the controversial decision, the county decided to move forward with the pennywise logging contract with Sierra Pacific Industries.
Despite pretty meager regulations it’s come to my attention that Sierra Pacific is in fact cutting many trees marked as “leave trees.” It’s disappointing to have the terms justifying
this sale not be enforced.
Legacy forests are an environmental asset as I’m sure you well know. If nothing can be done for this contract/Pennywise what can be done to prevent future contracts from extractive or
careless contractor practices?
