In the Matter of Establishing }
The Animal Services Operations and }
Maintenance Trust Fund }
RESOLUTION NO 06-06
WHEREAS, Animal Services for Jefferson County has been
experiencing reductions in contributions to it from the County's general fund; and,
WHEREAS, initiatives passed by the people of the state in recent
years have reduced or eliminated revenue sources previously relied upon to pay
for such services and programs as Animal Services; and,
WHEREAS, in order to assure the continuation of this program
Jefferson County established (via Resolution #44-01) the "Animal Services
Donation Trust Fund," as a receptacle for sums that may be used "solely for the
benefit of the animals, and may not be used for the maintenance and operations of
the Shelter;" and,
WHEREAS, the Board of County Conimissioners now recogIDzes the
need to create a second Donation Trust Fund specifically to receive donations that
will support and pay for the operations and maintenance of Animal Services'
programs and infrastructure and the purchase of necessary supplies, including
utility costs; and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of Jefferson County that the
second fund be established to supplement the monies available to the operations
and maintenance of Animal Services' programs and infrastructure and the
purchase of necessary supplies, including utility costs; and,
WHEREAS, the second fund to be created shall be called the "Animal
Services Operations and Maintenance Donation Fund;" and
WHEREAS, the creation of this second fund allows for citizens of
Jefferson County to distinguish how they wish their donated monies (or other
items of value such as a donated older car or the proceeds' from that donated car)
to be utilized
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Board of County
Commissioners as follows:
1. That a fund to be known as the "Animal Services Operations and
Maintenance Donation Fund" be established, that the Treasurer is herby

authorized to establish such a fund and that the Auditor will consider this
fund another budget item with the account number # ; and
2. That this Resolution does not alter or repeal any portion of Resolution #44-
01, which established a separate fund known as the "Animal Services
Donation Trust Fund," having account number #629-000-010; and
3. That the interest earned from the monies invested by the Jefferson County
Treasurer from this newly-created fund shall be deposited to that fund.
