RESOLUTION NO. 30-06
WHEREAS, a petition was filed with the Jefferson County Auditor for the formation of a cemetery
district under the provisions ofRCW 68.52.100; and
WHEREAS, the Auditor examined the petition and found it to contain a sufficient number of
signatures of qualified persons, and transmitted the petition along with a certificate of sufficiency to the
Board of County Commissioners on the 1 ih day of May, 2006;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Jefferson County Board of Commissioners will
hold a public hearin2: on Mondav. June 26. 2006 at 10:05 a.m. in the Commissioners' Chamber,
Jefferson County Courthouse, 1820 Jefferson Street, Port Townsend, Washington, to consider the
formation of a cemetery district in the community of Gardiner, within the boundaries described in the
following copy of the petition:
PETITION FOR THE FORMATION OF A CEMETERY DISTRICT
"The undersigned, who constitute not less than fifteen percent of the registered voters residing
within the boundaries of the proposed cemetery district hereby respectfully, petition the Board
of Commissioners of Jefferson County, Washington for the formation of a cemetery district.
Both the legal description and map for the proposed cemetery district are attached to this
petition. (RCW 68.52.100)"
The legal description for this cemetery district shall include all the property shown on the
attached map and described as follows:
"S1/2 Section 27, S1/2 Section 28, Section 33, Section 34, Section 35, Twp.30N" R. 2W., W.
M. all in Jefferson County. And, N1/2 Section 4, Twp. 29N., R. 2W., W. M. all in Jefferson
County."

Beginning at the Northwest section corner of Section 28, Township 30 North, Range 2 West,
W.M.;
Thence South along the West section line of Sections 28 and 33, Township 30 North, Range 2
West, W.M. and along the West section line of Section 4, Township 29 North, Range 2 West,
W.M. to the Southwest corner of the Northwest quarter of said Section 4;
Thence East along the South line of the Northwest quarter and the Northeast quarter of said
Section 4 to the Southeast corner of the Northeast quarter of said Section 4;
Thence North along the East section line of the Northeast quarter of said Section 4 to a point
on the South section line of Section 33, Township 30 North, Range 2 West, W.M.;
Thence East along the South section line of said Section 33 to the Southeast section corner of
said Section 33;
Thence East along the South section line of Sections 34 and 35, Township 30 North, Range 2
West, W.M. to the Southeast section corner of said Section 35;
Thence North along the East section line of said Section 35 to the middle of Discovery Bay;

EXCEPTING THEREFROM any portion lying within Clallam County, State of Washington.
Could also be described as Sections 27,28,33,34 and 35, Township 30 North, Range 2
West, W.M. and the North half of Section 4, Township 29 North, Range 2 West, W.M. except
any portion lying within Clallam County, Washington.
All being situated and lying in Jefferson County, State of Washington.
Any taxpayer who wishes to do so may appear at the aforementioned hour and date and be heard
for or against the formation of said proposed cemetery district.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of the petition with the names of the petitioners
omitted, together with a copy of this notice of hearing shall be published in three consecutive weekly issues
of the official newspaper of the county, and posted for not less than fifteen days prior to the date of the
hearing in each of the following three public places within the boundaries of the proposed district: 1)
Gardiner Community Center; 2) Gardiner Boat Ramp; and 3) Gardiner Cemetery.

Subj: Petition for the formation of a Cemetery District
Pursuant to RCW 68.52,100, attached is a certified copy of a petition,
accompanied by an obligation signed by four (4) petitioners agreeing to pay the
cost of publishing the notice hereinafter provided for along with a certificate of
sufficiency for a proposed Cemetery District.
Said petition meets the statutory requirement of having valid signatures from
15% of the total registered voters within the proposed area. There are 289
registered voters within the proposed district. The petition needed 43 valid
signatures and had a total of 89 signatures. Of those 89 signatures, 78 were
valid and 11 were invalid,

The Citizens of Gardiner are respectfully submitting petition sheets for your
consideration to form a Cemetery District in the area described below. The Deed Holder
for the designated burial area known as the Gardiner Community Cemetery is the
Rhododendron Grange #1134. It is their desire to remove themselves from this
commitment and see that a community based group take over the cemetery. It has been
determined in a community meeting that a Cemetery District is the best option,

Enclosed are three (3) copies of Resolution No. 30-06 which includes a copy ofthe petition and
map for the formation of the cemetery district in the community of Gardiner as well as the notice
of public hearing on the petition scheduled for Monday, June 26, 2006 at 10:05 a.m. in the
Jefferson County Commissioners' Chamber.
Per our previous telephone conversation you had agreed to post the enclosed notices in each of
three (3) public places within the boundaries of the proposed cemetery district. It was agreed that
