RESOLUTION NO. 38,...J10
WHEREAS, a petition was filed with the Jefferson County Auditor for the formation of a
cemetery district under the provisions ofRCW 68.52.100; and
WHEREAS, the Jefferson County Auditor having examined the petition and finding it to contain
a sufficient number of signatures of qualified persons, and having attached thereto a certificate of
sufficiency accompanied by an obligation signed by two petitioners agreeing to pay the cost of
publishing the notice of hearing for the formation of a cemetery district, transmitted the same to the
Board of County Commissioners, on the 17th day of May, 2006;
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners having full authority to hear and determine the
petition thereby scheduled the hearing for the 26th day of June, 2006 at 10:05 a.m. in the
Commissioners' Chamber; and
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that at the time and place scheduled for hearing on
the petition, the Board of County Commissioners finds that the formation of a cemetery district would
be conducive to the public welfare and convenience, and determines that a cemetery district be formed
in conformance with the following:
1. That the name and number of said district shall be Jefferson County Cemetery District
No.3;
2. That the boundaries of the cemetery district shall include all of the property described as
follows:
"S1/2 Section 27, SI/2 Section 28, Section 33, Section 34, Section 35, Twp.30N., R.
2W., W. M. all in Jefferson County. And, N1/2 Section 4, Twp. 29N., R. 2W., W. M. all
in Jefferson County."
Beginning at the Northwest section comer of Section 28, Township 30 North, Range 2
West, W.M.;
Thence South along the West section line of Sections 28 and 33, Township 30 North,
Range 2 West, W.M. and along the West section line of Section 4, Township 29 North,
Range 2 West, W.M. to the Southwest comer ofthe Northwest quarter of said Section 4;
Thence East along the South line of the Northwest quarter and the Northeast quarter of
said Section 4 to the Southeast comer of the Northeast quarter of said Section 4;
Thence North along the East section line of the Northeast quarter of said Section 4 to a
point on the South section line of Section 33, Township 30 North, Range 2 West, W.M.;
Thence East along the South section line of said Section 33 to the Southeast section
comer of said Section 33;
Thence East along the South section line of Sections 34 and 35, Township 30 North,
Range 2 West, W.M. to the Southeast section comer of said Section 35;
Thence North along the East section line of said Section 35 to the middle of Discovery
Bay;

Thence Northwesterly along the middle of Discovery Bay to the intersection with the
North section line of Section 27, Township 30 North, Range 2 West, W.M. extended

North section line to the section comer common to Sections 21, 22, 27 and 28, Township
30 North, Range 2 West, W.M.;
Thence West along the North section line of said Section 28 to the Point of Beginning of
this description.
EXCEPTING THEREFROM any portion lying within Clallam County, State of
Washington.
Could also be described as Sections 27, 28, 33, 34 and 35, Township 30 North, Range 2
West, W.M. and the North half of Section 4, Township 29 North, Range 2 West, W.M.
except any portion lying within Clallam County, Washington.
All being situated and lying in Jefferson County, State of Washington.
3. That an election be held within said boundaries in conjunction with the November 7,
2006 General Election for the purpose of determining whether or not the district shall be
organized under the provisions ofRCW 68.52.140, and for the purpose of electing its
first cemetery district commissioners.

Subj: Petition for the formation of a Cemetery District
Pursuant to RCW 68.52.100, attached is a certified copy of a petition,
accompanied by an obligation signed by four (4) petitioners agreeing to pay the
cost of publishing the notice hereinafter provided for along with a certificate of
sufficiency for a proposed Cemetery District.
Said petition meets the statutory requirement of having valid signatures from
15% of the total registered voters within the proposed area. There are 289
registered voters within the proposed district. The petition needed 43 valid
signatures and had a total of 89 signatures. Of those 89 signatures, 78 were
valid and 11 were invalid.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that this office has checked the attached Petition for the
formation of a Cemetery District as defined in the area on the attached map and legal

Said Petition contained a total of 89 signatures. There are 78 valid
signatures from the proposed area for the formation of the district.
Pursuant to ROO 68.52.100 the petition for the formation of the cemetery
district must be signed by not less than fifteen (15 %) of the registered voters in the

The Citizens of Gardiner are respectfully submitting petition sheets for your
consideration to form a Cemetery District in the area described below. The Deed Holder
for the designated burial area known as the Gardiner Community Cemetery is the
Rhododendron Grange #1134. It is their desire to remove themselves from this
commitment and see that a community based group take over the cemetery. It has been
determined in a community meeting that a Cemetery District is the best option.
The legal description for this cemetery district shall include all the property
described as follows: S~ Section 27, S~ Section 28, Section 33, Section 34, Section 35,
Twp.30N., R2W., W. M. all in Jefferson County. And, N~ Section 4, Twp. 29N., R.2W.,
W. M. all in Jefferson County.
