This gap in what has rapidly become an essential utility prevents a community’s access to quality education, physical and behavioral health care, employment opportunities, economic growth, agricultural productivity, social connections, and other vital services which protect, inform, and empower residents. As federal and state leaders try to resolve these issues by accelerating the deployment of broadband through increased funding opportunities for local jurisdictions and providers; there have been many complex adjustments to broadband policy and programs. For this reason, and because the deployment of broadband is so unique to each county in terms of the partnerships and methods of distribution, WSAC is establishing an ad hoc Broadband Advisory Committee. The Committee will meet at least monthly to discuss specific topics related to broadband and to offer a time for roundtable discussion between members to ask questions and provide feedback to one another. The committee will try to work through decisions on a consensus basis and may be asked to provide feedback to WSAC staff should it become necessary for WSAC to take a formal position on any proposed statewide broadband policy initiatives. Who should join? We are requesting contact information from each county for anyone who would like to participate in these meetings, however, we strongly encourage the membership of individuals who are actively participating on a Broadband Action Team for their county.
