Pacific FY23 RAISE application, toplan the Great American Rail-Trail from Bainbridge Island across
theOlympic Peninsula toLaPush.
AsaCo-Applicant \[AGENCY\] embraces thebenefits active transportation infrastructure provides to
ourcommunities. Trails transform communities byproviding equitable access, enhancing safety,
quality oflife, sustainability, and bybolstering local economies. Wespecially value thehealth
benefits derived from active transportation.
AGENCY\] has joined this application because thePS2P projects willcreate aninnovative active
transportation and recreation corridor, providing asafe, non-motorized shared usepath through
thisbeautiful and productive rural landscape. This multi-usetrail project will beanasset notjust to
thethree counties, numerous small towns and several Indian Reservations directly impacted, but
alsotothewider state ofWashington.
For decades, \[AGENCY\] hascontributed tothegrowing needforsafe, non-motorized access
throughout our community. Werecently completed \[oneortwoexamples recently built orunder
construction\] segments of \[orconnections to\] thePS2P corridor. Our long-term landuse,
transportation, and capital improvement plans include significant commitments toimplementing
PS2P projects, community connections andtransit support foractive transportation.
