HomeMy WebLinkAboutDRAFT 102522M CSC MINUTES CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION Regular Meeting – October 25, 2022, 2:00 p.m. Jefferson County Courthouse – Commissioners’ Chambers 1820 Jefferson Street, Port Townsend, WA (Hybrid) CALL TO ORDER: Chair Dennis Cowan participating remotely called the meeting to order at 2:08 p.m. in the presence of Chief Examiner Steve Richmond, Commissioner Ken Przygocki and Commissioner Bob Gebo participated remotely. PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD: Chair Cowan called for public comments. None received. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Commissioner Gebo moved to approve the minutes of September 27, 2022. Commissioner Przygocki seconded the motion which carried by a unanimous vote. OLD BUSINESS: Briefing on Support Services Classification: Chief Examiner Richmond provided an update and presented verbal Investigation Report and DRAFT Letter to Sheriff’s Office; Commissioner Praygocki moved to accepted the letter as drafted. Chair Cowan seconded the motion which carried by a unanimous vote. Briefing on Certification of Eligibility Lists: Corrections Sargent and Patrol Sargent; Commissioner Praygocki moved to Certify the Eligibility List for Corrections Sargent and Patrol Sargent. Chair Cowan seconded the motion which carried by a unanimous vote. NEW BUSINESS: Discussion on Sheriff’s Office Staffing: Schedule Examination to Establish Renewed Eligibility List for Support Services; Chief Examiner Richmond provided an update on testing for Support Services Eligibility List. The Written Examination will be administered Saturday, December 10, 2022. If successful, the Eligibility List will be established with one candidate for Entry Level placement in the Sheriff’s Office Administration Office. Chair Cowan called for public comments, none were received. Propose Eligibility List Duration Extension re: Change from 1 year or 18 months to Two (2) Years for Patrol and Corrections Entry & Lateral, Support Service and Patrol and Corrections Sargent Promotional Eligibility Lists. Commissioner Praygocki moved Accept Eligibility List Duration for the Eligibility list for Patrol and Corrections Entry and Lateral, Support Service and Patrol and Corrections Sargent Promotional Eligibility Lists. Chair Cowan seconded the motion which carried by a unanimous vote. Update on Project: Public Safety Testing (PST) proposing to Create Local Satellite Testing Site, Potential Interlocal with Clallam to Promote Local Employment Interest and Increase Hiring Potential; Chief Examiner Richmond gave a review of this project and the participation he will volunteer and contribute. He will keep the Commission updated with progress. CALL FOR PUBLIC COMMENT: Chair Cowan called for public comments. None received. NOTICE OF ADJOURNMENT: Commissioner Gebo moved to adjourn the meeting at 3:39 p.m. Chair Cowan seconded the motion which carried by a unanimous vote. NEXT MEETING: November 29, 2022 or a Special Meeting if properly noticed pursuant to RCW 42.30.080.
