Dear Commissioners, I am applying for another grant to create a vision for a housing community in the Upper Simms Way area. I appreciate your consideration. "BirchyVille Ranch Annex" I currently own and manage 4 rental houses in Port Townsend. I have created a co-housing community that is built around my Food Bank Food Garden (www.birchyvillegardencoop.com <http://www.birchyville gardencoop.com> ). Each of our tenants participate in the farm. I have 4 additional lots (100ft x 100ft) where I could build up to 8 houses or a multi unit building. Tax Parcels 948330805; 948330804; 948330806; 948330807. The property is located in the Upper Sims Way area near the Hospital. Hedricks St to Sherman St at 2nd St. I would like to request $25,000.00 to work with an Architect / Designer and the City of Port Townsend Planning Dept to create a vision and concept for adding living units to our co-housing community. I would anticipate professional fees of $15,000.00 for preliminary Architecture and Engineering; City and Planning fees of $5,000.00; Legal Fees $5,000.00. I would finance the project, so I need to prepare a clear vision to share when looking for financing from a commercial, private or community source. We would want to map the significant trees, research the Tribal history of the land and complete an environmental review. About Birch; I volunteer about 1/2 my time and 1/2 my personal income to the Farm. My income comes from my Insurance Agency, Shapiro Benefits Group (www.ShapiroBenefits.com <http://www.ShapiroBenefits.com> ; WAOIC # LIC784429) where I am an AARP Authorized Agent. We actively grow for the Food Bank Growers (Non Profit 501c-3) to support Food Security for Seniors in our community. I plan for the property to continue as a Land Trust or Real Estate Trust into the future. With Respect, Mathew “Birch" Shapiro 205 Hancock St Port Townsend, WA 98368 310-779-9053
