YOUNG MUSICIANS EYE L.A. TRIP
How I got my start.
It's a story often told by the professional musicians who have taken the Bay Club stage over the 31 seasons presented by Port Ludlow Performing Arts.
This time, on Saturday, February 25 at 2 p.m., see the genesis itself. Student musicians from Port Townsend High School will showcase their talents in a free concert at the Bay Club,
featuring classical, jazz and fiddle ensembles, as well as soloists.
The show serves as a fundraiser, as well as a chance for the students to play for a live audience, ahead of a four-day trip to Los Angeles in late March. Some 75 PTHS students will participate
there in a music festival, attend a music clinic, see the Los Angeles Philharmonic perform and visit a college campus.
PLPA's oft-stated mission is to enhance music education in our local schools, so providing a platform for these young artists was an easy call. Said PLPA President Sharla Erich, "Hosting
this incredible event is what we are all about." Daniel Ferland, PTHS Music Director, said of the show, "Our kids are super excited for this opportunity."
Seating is first-come-first-serve. While admission is free, donations to Port Townsend Music Boosters are encouraged. Doors open at 1:30 p.m.
