The County Leadership Institute (CLI) <https://wsac.us3.list-manage.com/track/click?u=6943e0d4535671f24022ca02a&id=2729e26ee7&e=03d5c964a3> is a rigorous program offered by NACo to enhance the capability of county officials to identify and implement innovative solutions to complex challenges facing county government. Through the high-energy, immersive curriculum, participants will learn a new set of leadership skills and widen their leadership perspectives. Attendees will learn how to effectively address the demands of personal leadership in a new era of government. Up to 30 local elected officials from across the country will be chosen to participate in this opportunity, held in Washington, D.C, on June 11 – 14, 2023 (Arrive June 11, Depart June 15). Candidates must be elected county officials from NACo member counties, and preference will be given to those serving at least one term and no more than eight years in office. WSAC policy provides preference to nominating a WSAC member that meets the following criteria: 1. Have served at least one term and have been reelected to office. 2. Currently an active participant in a leadership capacity within WSAC (Board of Directors, Legislative Steering Committee, Committee Member, NACo Committee Member, serve on Statewide Board or Commission, etc.). 3. Be willing to continue serving in a leadership position. 4. Report back to the WSAC membership following completion of the program. WSAC will cover four nights lodging and the event registration fee of $1,800 – which includes receptions and most meals. Selected participants are responsible for travel costs to and from Washington D.C, some meals, ground transportation to/from the airport, and incidentals. WSAC may be able to assist in offsetting travel costs. Applications are due by close of business on Friday, March 10, 2023 The WSAC Executive Committee will select and forward nominee(s) to NACo. NACo will announce the finalists in May.
