Subject: Dabob Bay Inter-Trust exchange draft support letter for Feb 28 hearing
Honorable Commissioners:
Attached is a draft letter of support for DNR’s proposed inter-trust exchange that will protect the remaining 826 acres of Forest Trust lands within the Dabob Bay Natural Area and compensate
junior taxing districts. I would great appreciate it if a Commissioner can sign a support letter before the public hearing on Feb 28.
I have also attached two previous letters from the Commissioners on this same subject and a map showing the proposed School Trust parcels, most of which would probably be turned into
new Forest Trust parcels. Also – here is the brief project description from DNR https://www.dnr.wa.gov/managed-lands/land-transactions/dabob-bay-inter-trust-exchange <https://www.dnr.wa.gov/managed-
lands/land-transactions/dabob-bay-inter-trust-exchange>
As you know, this project has dragged on for years and DNR now has only until June 30 to spend the $7.5 M approved by the legislature and get it done, including final approval from the
Board of Natural Resources.
