Hello,
I wanted to follow up from the meeting last Thursday to share that for Fort Worden Hospitality and all the organizations who host summer events here there is truly no good weekend to
do the closures. From Centrum to Olympic Music Festival who hold events and week long education programs to other groups who are holding retreats or social events here every weekend
is booked – and where someone would have to come on the weekend of the proposed closures.
With that said it is understandable that construction work needs to be done. I will voice a vote for looking at moving at least one of these weekend dates to mid-week, as looking at
the schedule of activity at the Fort we could do something mid-week to not interfere with a program or public performance event. Since our reservation calendar does cross over with
many of the groups in our area who have voiced concern, I am happy to be a resource for looking at calendars if needed.
I also wanted to add the dates for THING presented in the meeting were not correct. That large festival where much of the attendance comes from across the bridge is taking place August
25-27. I also know that STG has done some of their own outreach to WSDOT on behalf of this event and the big impacts a move in the closure schedule could have.
Thanks for listening.
Best,
Natalie
