I live on Dabob Bay at 422 Beach Drive, Quilcene. I have been coming to this area since 1991. I now have my permanent home here. I cannot tell you how valuable this piece of the planet is to me. I walk in the forests almost every day. Only 40 miles (and a ferry ride) to Seattle, I have seen cougars, black bear, bobcats, birds of many species, harbor porpoise, sea lions, and seals, just to name a few species. It is such a relief to return here, hear the loons, eagles, kingfishers instead of sirens and honking cars. I've also witnessed what the destruction of a forest can do-in Overbrook, Oklahoma where my sister lives, a beautiful natural forest was cut down to make way for an exotic game hunting ranch. It resulted in mudslides across roads, smothering a protected lake and watershed (that Oklahoma DNR had created!) and forcing animals to flee. The Dabob Bay Natural Area is a gift to the State of Washington and to the planet, please preserve the 826 acres bordering it. Sincerely, Barbara A. Stahler 206 409 3719
