The award is given to employees whose actions save a life. Just before midnight, Chief Engineer Eric Liu, Assistant Engineer Pat Quinanola and Oiler Grann Steele heard yelling while working on repairs in the pilothouse. With the boat tied up for the day, they were the only ones on board and used the ship’s searchlight to find someone in the water. They launched a rescue boat, retrieved the person and brought them to shore, where emergency medical services took over and transported the victim to the hospital. I’m so proud of the crew and all our employees who regularly go above and beyond for the safety of everyone. Why so long to reward on this lifesaving event you might ask?
