That TCC to enter into agreement with JeffCo. Acting as the Pass Through Agency for continued operations of Gateway VIC. That TCC further take Action to: a. Authorize to assemble a special-committee of TCC to provide transitional leadership of Gateway VIC, including required Responsibility fulfillment and contracting of essential Services to be performed, i.e. VIC manager, book keeper, program manager b. That the special committee will prepare monthly operational highlights for TCC as part of the current Gateway VIC Area Community reporting. c. Gateway VIC Sub-committee will research and bring recommendations required for outcome of forming autonomous Olympic Peninsula Gateway VIC organization (e.g. as a non- profit) by December 31, 2023. New Business Item 2 – Recommendation that TCC approve transmittal of opposition of sighting SWT at SR104 & 19 to JeffCo. BoCC. DRAFT text of proposed statement: Dear BoCC – TCC strongly recommends against considerations of the SR104-19 location for a future SWT (Solid Waste Transfer) site and Public Works yard. To echo the Feb. 21, 2023 words of Commissioner Greg Brotherton, upon his hearing the proposal; "Kind of like having a toilet in the foyer, very convenient but..." The Olympic Peninsula, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, home to eight federally recognized tribes, a National Park, National Marine Sanctuary, and countless other national resource wonders, does not need a SWT site as the “Gateway” visual at SR104 & 19 welcoming both residents and visitors onto the Peninsula. While we appreciate JeffCo. Public Works needs to forecast and future these vital infrastructure elements, we strongly oppose further consideration of this location for these assets. Sincerely
