As we celebrate Women's History Month, we want to take a moment to honor the incredible contributions of the women who volunteer with us.
The women in our community go the extra mile to lift up others, including our Habitat partners. We are grateful to all the women who build homes, volunteer in our store, support our
office, serve on our board of directors and on committees, participate in our Women Build events and do so much throughout the year.
Thank you for your service and commitment to building a brighter future for our entire community.

science and math. I remember the pride I felt when I graduated from college with a science degree. I continued for another year in a teaching hospital as a medical technologist, including

Homeowner's Corner: Spring Cleaning

Spring is around the corner (yay!), which means that it's time to start thinking about spring cleaning.
Many conquer spring cleaning by dusting and de-cluttering their homes. While these are important tasks, there are also some deep cleaning jobs that can help ensure the longevity of your
home.
* Clean your air ducts and dryer vents. Did you know that clogged dryer vents are one of the leading causes of house fires? Experts recommend getting your air ducts and dryer vents cleaned
at least once a year (more often, if you have a larger household). Not only will this keep you safe, but it will also increase the efficiency of your dryer, resulting in lower bills
and faster dry times!
* Replace the air filters. As the cold months come to a close, it's important to remember to replace or clean your filters. This simple maintenance task helps ensure that your air system
is working at its best and that dust and particles aren't circulating along with the cool air and spreading throughout your home.
* Check your roof. Even though we did not get much snow this winter, it is still important to look for damaged or missing shingles and signs of leaking and cracking. You may also want
to consider removing stains, algae or moss. But remember - safety first: make sure you are using a stable ladder, ask a friend or family member to help, or contact a professional.
* Clean the gutters. April showers bring May flowers. Now is a good time to clean all debris and leaves out of your gutters and let the water flow to the plants and not get backed up
and leak into your home. Again, safety first: ask a friend to help or contact a professional.
Happenings around Habitat
February Home Dedications
In February we had not one, but two home dedications! It brings us immense joy to see Miranda and Judye move into their new homes.
Both of these amazing women worked tirelessly to perform their "sweat equity." Sweat equity is time that a future homeowner devotes to either helping build their home or providing work
in another capacity (such as customer service at the Habitat store, for example). Completing between 250 to 400 hours of sweat equity is a requirement for all Habitat program participants
before they purchase their homes.
Miranda and Judye, we couldn't be more excited to see you launch the next chapter of your lives in your beautiful new homes. Congratulations on this incredible achievement!
