The Washington State Department of Commerce is surveying local jurisdictions to collect information about local actions supporting housing production and affordability. The data collected will inform the 2023 Affordable Housing Advisory Board (AHAB) Five-Year Housing Advisory Plan, mandated by RCW 43.185B.040. By completing this survey, you will help AHAB develop policy recommendations for supporting local jurisdictions to advance solutions to preserve and develop affordable housing. This survey includes questions about: Housing Tools and Incentives Zoning and Development Regulation Changes Funding Tenant Protections Partnerships Please coordinate locally to ensure that only one representative from your jurisdiction completes this survey by April 7, 2023. PROJECT DESCRIPTION Design code alternative based on the Planned Rural Residential Development (PRRD) framework: Outlines the development of a special project Looks at cumulative development impacts Uses performance standards for level of development rather than residential zoned density (dwelling units/acre) It is an overlay zone, or floating zone, and done by an opt-in program Can implement a Planned Low Impact Development (PLID) land division section, particularly in Port Hadlock/Irondale UGA. It considers any critical areas and performance standards are applied to reduce cumulative impacts, improve condition of critical areas, applies Low Impact Development standards. Permitted through a Type II process with a community meeting requirement Bonus density and incentives can include amenities such as linear parkways, connectivity networks to trails and parks (propose for year two—2024 Amendment Cycle. Amends Farmworker Housing code to decouple employer from housing provider.
