STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Public Health requests that the County Commissioners appoint E. Ryan McMackin(Open Interest— Wetlands)to serve on the Conservation Futures Fund Citizen Oversight Committee. ANALYSIS/STRATEGIC GOALS/PRO'S and CON'S: Two vacancies on the CF Committee,to represent District 2 and an Open Interest,were advertised in the The Leader on December 7 and December 14,2022. Mr. McMackin responded to the ad prior to the December 30,2022 deadline.On March 13,2023,one committee member and the program coordinator interviewed the candidate in person.The interview committee highly recommends Mr. McMackin to serve a new four-year term in the Open Interest seat previously held by David Seabrook. Mr. McMackin has resided in Jefferson County for two years and is active in Quilcene community volunteer activities including wetland restoration along Snow Creek. He is a successful freelance cinematographer and experienced outdoor recreationist. For seven years until 2005, he volunteered for King County Search and Rescue with the Explorer Unit and Seattle Mountain Rescue. He studied organic farming and sustainability in Sweden and recently completed a WA DNR/WSU Forest Stewardship planning course. Mr. McMackin would like to represent the Open Interest of"Wetlands". FISCAL E%1PACT/COST BENEFIT ANALYSIS: There is no impact to the General Fund to appoint E. Ryan McMackin(Open Interest—Wetlands)to serve on the Conservation Futures Fund Citizen Oversight Committee. RECOMMENDATION: Public Health requests that the County Commissioners appoint E. Ryan McMackin to serve on the Conservation Futures Fund Citizen Oversight Committee.
