Read below a powerful story from Clare, a pediatrician in Colorado, on what cleaner air will mean for her and the children she works with.

How can I help my patients be healthy when they breathe dirty air every day? As a pediatrician, I understand our neighborhoods and communities need a prescription for healthier air.
The EPA can do that by updating stronger standards for soot pollution.
Join me in urging the EPA to strengthen the standards for dangerous and toxic soot pollution. Submit a public comment today -- and don't forget to share what cleaner air would mean for
you! <http://click.emails.sierraclub.org/?qs=12e70153bea88fc130dbc539032017354ffc9d3b3b13b62bba8a88e36241bf865101e3086082b57563327e748cbfc188644c9433cae5518f1e31bcf064e14b33>

Dear John,
As a doctor, it's my responsibility to help my patients live their healthiest lives. However, it's frustrating to have to add new medications to control my patient's asthma after they
were admitted to the ICU for an asthma attack, when I know that what they really need is cleaner air to breathe.
Cleaner air means that more of my patients can safely play outside and have access to all of the benefits that time in nature has on their health.
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recently took steps to update old and insufficient standards for particulate matter, also known as soot. This pollution is a dangerous mix of
toxic metals and chemicals that are so fine that we inhale them, getting into our lungs and even into our bloodstream, causing all sorts of illnesses and upper respiratory problems.
But the EPA's new proposal is too weak! Now we must flood the EPA with comments urging them to strengthen their soot pollution standards to help save more lives.
A stronger standard could save up to 20,000 lives per year. Tell the EPA to strengthen soot pollution limits for cleaner air for all of us! Submit a public comment before the March 28
deadline. <http://click.emails.sierraclub.org/?qs=12e70153bea88fc1640510b6cd4e1c9f5a38d108898a0bf643ca23b101408ca56650257097fb7141de1dd21e6375a7c57537c0d8f8911519dc95106cbce3f075>
Poor air quality is not just a health issue, it's a matter of justice. I've seen how the burden of unhealthy air is not equally distributed. My patients from communities of color and
those experiencing poverty are living with the dirtiest air. Children from these communities are already at higher risk of asthma that is made worse by air pollution.
This is not an isolated problem in my community in Denver, Colorado. The 2022 American Lung Association’s "State of the Air" Report1 found that under the existing standards, over 63
million Americans nationwide (many of them children!) experience unhealthy spikes in daily particle pollution, and more than 20 million Americans experience dangerous levels of particle
pollution on a year-round basis. As a physician who has taken an oath to "do no harm," this is unacceptable.
President Biden and EPA Administrator Michael Regan must do better! The more pressure we bring through written comments and public hearings, the more likely our government officials
will enact the strongest pollution limits to improve the health of communities, advance racial justice, and protect the climate.
Submit a comment today for cleaner air for healthier families across the country! Join me in telling the EPA to strengthen its soot pollution standard. The deadline to comment is March
28. <http://click.emails.sierraclub.org/?qs=12e70153bea88fc18049528f52dc91b70303f57f2dcb7f7f3e6e407a4be286289844a09c6cfc60f80c8543325b72cf2dd567f2ccb367ea817f901458128a5245>
