Wildlife Baby Season is Really Early!

Baby season is here! And much earlier than normal. We have already received two cotton tail rabbits, 4 baby ermine weasels and one long tail weasel! Every spring we get a large influx
of injured and orphan wildife babies. Normally baby season normally starts late April or early May and this may be an indicator of a very busy spring for us.

We Need Help Transporting Animals!
We are looking for volunteers to help transport wildlife from Gig Harbor, Grays Harbor, the coast and occasionally the greater Puget Sound Region. These transports can be time critical.
One of our volunteer veterinarian's from Gig Harbor saw the need for our services helping orphaned and injured wildlife in the greater Gig Harbor areas. And since we are one of the only
facilities that are able to provide intensive care around the clock we receive animals from all around Puget Sound. The long tail weasel currently in our care came from Normandy Park
which is just south of Seattle.
We also need help transporting domestic animals around the Olympic Peninsula and occasionally greater Seattle area.
If you are interested please reply to this email or contact Kyle at volunteer@centervalleyanimalrescue.org <https://centervalleyanimalrescue.us17.list-manage.com/track/click?u=82d26e535706daece34fbf7

The Hospital Coyote!

In February an adult female coyote attempted to check herself into the urgent care at Jefferson Healthcare. After going through the automatic doors she realized her mistake and bolted
down the hallway and through a glass window and ended up in an enclosed courtyard. With the help of Jefferson County Animal Control, our director Sara sedated the coyote and brought
it back to our in-house medical facility.
After a thorough exam the only injuries the coyote sustained were two small cuts on its head and a bruised ego. We released her the following day in a wooded area just outside of town.
But not before Sara explained the hospital is for humans only but if she ever needs help again, she can always come back to us.
Sara Goes to Olympia

Last month Sara testified in Olympia in support of House Bill 1234. This bill concerns the civil forfeiture of animals seized for abuse or neglect. The goal of the bill is to make it
easier to gain ownership of animals from cruelty and neglect sites so they are not languishing at shelters for undetermined amounts of time.
The bill has passed The House and is currently in Senate Committee.
