Hours Worked: Works up to 69 hours/month
Location: Port Townsend
SUMMARY
The Clerk Hire Court Administrative is responsible for assisting in the orderly and
expeditious dispatch of court business and will provide administrative coverage to the
Superior Court as outlined in the job description. This position will have substantial contact
with all parties in the Criminal Justice system, including defendants, judges, lawyers,
corrections staff and the public. Will train right candidate.
QUALIFICATIONS

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties
may be assigned.
Assist Presiding Judge and Court Administrator with scheduling, room changes,
setting hearings and other duties per instructions.
Schedule, coordinate and troubleshoot Zoom platform in Courtroom.
Answer phone calls, document and forward messages, and provide scheduling for
the Presiding Judge and other involved departments.
Occasionally assist the Jury Bailiffs during trials by signing in jurors, escorting
jurors on breaks and escorting jurors to various rooms in the Courthouse.
Proficient in Zoom, WORD, Excel, Outlook, Odyssey and Laserfiche.
Work in the Courtroom, notably during the Friday motion calendars to help
administer calendar updates, such as setting trial dates.
Maintain confidentiality of sensitive and/or legal issues.
Additional tasks as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent (GED) and two (2) years related
experience in a customer service, office environment and/or legal or court environment.
Knowledge of courtroom etiquette and procedures is desirable. Must pass a criminal
background check. Must sign confidentiality agreement upon acceptance of employment.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to
write correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small
group situations to customers and other employees of the organization.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written,
oral or diagram form.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
To perform this job successfully an individual should have experience using computers,
the ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel and the ability to utilize various virtual meeting
platforms such as ZOOM or GoToMeetings.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid Washington State Driver's License.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Duties are performed in a courtroom and office setting. Requires seeing, speaking, hearing,
walking, bending climbing, standing, mobility, repetitive motions, lifting and sitting. While
performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to
finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee
frequently is required to stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to climb
or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or
move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision,
distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
