Do not open attachments or click on links if you are not expecting them. ________________________________ Good Morning and thank you both for the wonderful response. I really appreciate it very much. I am writing about several things today that I would like to bring to the cities and the counties attention. I have had multiple interactions with Murrey's/Olympic Disposal over the last several years as a business owner and a home owner. Unfortunately, all of them are terrible. Maybe one was good when I called about recycle and they said they were recycling what Jefferson County is not in Sequim and I can take my plastic there. The calls that are most often the ones directly having to do with my business have been the most time consuming and problematic. I am located on a residential/commercial part of Zoning in Port Townsend. I have a mixed use building that I rent and it has a large yard in the front. I am forced to use the commercial pick up since I am a business, but make very little waste and very little recycling. I have many times not filled up a can and often do not need pick up each week for garbage or recycle picked up for a month or so. I have gotten to the point that when I take my trash out I take pictures and ask multiple people I work with to witness my can going out, because Murrey's often does not pick it up. It has gotten so bad that I at one point was calling every other week or more and they now require their own driver to take photos of the pick ups as well. This also happens with Recycling a lot as well and I am on the phone and leaving it out for extra days to get picked up after they miss it. Now, when I call they usually they find an excuse or reason to point a finger at me instead saying it was not there, or that the driver said it was not there . Last time, I said I had a picture and they remarked that the driver forgot to take one. Last time, when I called to ask what we can do to remedy things, as it was getting very trying to consistently take out cans and have them left there; they said "when they did come get it, that it had mixed recycle in it." instead of answering my question. I told them if it sits at the sidewalk for a week other people may have put stuff in it. They were are argumentative and very rude to that point as well as avoiding the comment about coming to get it on the day it is scheduled. I also agreed that I do not want things to tarnish my recycle, so if they would just pick it up on the day it is supposed to be, then it would not be an issue. Here is my biggest question. Is our community being treated this way because we cannot get any other contracts? Are they the only game in town? Last time, they did not get the recycling the woman had the suggestion that I call within 4 hours and they most certainly will come out that day ( yet I am doing my job and very busy and is that really what is expected?), as a suggestion to remedy their non pick ups, but should I be having to call them over and over and monitoring them for every pick up? I asked her in jest if I should call the Sunday before they pick up to let them know it was out there. I am also wondering why as a commercial account I do not have an option to get land refuge pick up? I really need that at the place I am at. It is not an option. The county even makes money on this. Even with my yard help, I am often left with a lot of bags to take to to the dump to get rid of filled with Yard waste. I have every person beside me getting theirs picked up. As I am on a mostly residential street. I do not need the kind of recycling giant containers they have and that is in part why they are so hard to fill and take out weekly. So I am wondering if when we contract again, if we can have the choice to do yard waste, recycle etc ? Also, Climate change is a really big issue and I am seeing that as a person with a business on a mostly residential street, gas is being consumed. I have a truck a week coming for my glass, card board, plastics and garbage on different days. Mon, Tues, Wed, Thur . This is crazy. The residential comes on a different day. SO they are coming just for me. How can it be good environmentally to run all these trucks down the street just to get my one building? The schedule is kinda crazy and it is not carbon friendly. Not to mention they often change pick up days for commercial accounts and do not tell us the account holder when they changed it too. Last, on a home front. Recently I was helping my husband try to get our home garbage dumpster replaced after a person ran it into it, our car and fence at our home and crushed the one we were renting for major dumping we are doing from the back yard. The woman again was very rude( form the commercial department on March 27th at 11:30am) as we called to find out how to replace it and how to get them paid by State Farm. (The person who hit all of those things was insured thankfully).Again, she was very rude to me and instead of responding to us trying to make sure they were paid by State Farm and also getting a new one, she acted irritated at me and nasty, because I was trying to make sure they insurance got some of the costs taken care of. She was directive, that I should get off the phone and let my husband talk to her and take her off of speaker. She got nasty with me after I was trying to give my husband some information. I let her know after my husband had gotten things resolved that I was offended by how I was treated and let her know I would be letting someone with the city know. I am truly tired of always being treated nastily by this organization. They come to the phone in an often rude, negative and demoing manner. They also choose to enforce or not enforce their rules whenever it suits them and often the residents on the phone do not know what their rules are. How do we remedy this? The people in this county deserve better. Things do not need to be so confrontational and if they have rules they should be distributing them and publishing them for all to see. At time of service, online etc. I appreciate you listening and I am sorry to be so negative. I have been dealing with this for many years , but thought it was time to finally say something. I hope we can find a way to remedy this. Maybe get new bids?? Start some friendly competition. I don't think they feel they need to try or do anything different. Thank you again .
