Earth Day is celebrated around the world on April 22nd each year. Locally, the Port Townsend Main Street Program staff and dedicated volunteers go out and spruce up downtown in preparation for Spring. Projects can included extensive weeding at Adams Street Park, planting new shrubs, adding to the planters at Tyler Street Plaza and cleaning street furniture. Merchants in the historic districts are invited to give special attention to their storefronts this week by tackling sidewalk litter and fixing up their planters or ordering flower baskets for their stores.
