These lands are critical to wildlife, water, outdoor recreation, and climate resiliency -- but for too long, the agency has prioritized resource extraction, like drilling and mining, over conservation in its management decisions. We have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to ensure the agency rebalances its mission to focus on conservation. <http://click.emails.sierraclub.org/?qs=69c3aa674758b28d6d905e7e772f5872a76b02804b4d1b2c a52aa097769f1e06f48fbc97549fbef9302bd0abf02bd65ad624e3d32c4831037834ad014b1b6d94> The Bureau of Land Management recently launched a 75-day comment period, seeking feedback on its "Public Lands Rule" -- a new plan that will shape the future of public lands across the country. It's critical we make our collective voice heard to ensure public lands and waters remain healthy and support us in the future. For nearly 40 years, the agency has largely focused on resource extraction and other multiple uses, but neglected conservation, recreation, wildlife, fragile watersheds, and cultural resource protection in partnership with Tribal Nations.  This rulemaking gives the BLM an opportunity to rebalance its priorities and develop an inclusive conservation approach that includes co-stewardship and co-management with Tribal nations who have cared for and stewarded these lands and waters since time immemorial. Act now for public lands! Submit your comment to urge the Bureau of Land Management to prioritize land and water conservation, tribal stewardship, water, and wildlife. <http://click.emails.sierraclub .org/?qs=69c3aa674758b28d1a94a613a4b72d5534267ad113124e8e7eb6f7ef0567c18569749e6cdfcf7ec811f37099d178b07130fe20625a3b8de77011f0241b6e8540> America's public lands offer some of the most readily available, fiscally responsible solutions to address drought, storm impacts, catastrophic fire, and nature loss causing rapid changes across the West. These changes threaten western communities' water supplies, wildlife, and way of life that make the region unique.  Communities are only as healthy as the surrounding public lands and waters.    By prioritizing conservation, the Bureau of Land Management can better balance public land uses and protect our water, wildlife, and our way of life for future generations.
