HomeMy WebLinkAbout030223M BOE Determiniations Meeting MEETING MINUTES March 2, 2023 Daryl Gillette Chairman Margaret Taylor Vice-Chairman Pete Raab Member Chairman Daryl Gillette called the meeting to order at 10:02 a.m. in the presence of Vice-Chairman Margaret Taylor and Member Pete Raab. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Vice-Chairman Taylor moved to approve the meeting minutes of February 28, 2023. Member Raab seconded the motion which carried by a unanimous vote. DETERMINATIONS Per Open Public Meetings Act, as Outlined in RCW 42.30.140(2)the Board of Equalization met in CLOSED SESSION. The Board began CLOSED SESSION deliberations at 10:03 a.m. At the conclusion of the deliberations the Board resumed the regular meeting at 11:00 a.m. and the following actions were taken. After reviewing all the information submitted, the Board concurred that the appellant did not present clear, cogent, and convincing evidence necessary to overcome the presumptive correctness of the Assessor. Chairman Gillette moved to sustain the Assessor's valuation of$70,000 ($0 for the land and $70,000 for the improvements). Member Raab seconded the motion which carried by a unanimous vote. (See also minutes of February 28, 2023) Valerie Scott BOE: 22-12-R PN: 990 900 008 201 Montgomery Court Port Ludlow, WA. 98365 The Board of Equalization held a hearing on February 28, 2023. After thoughtful consideration the Board finds that the Appellant did present the clear, cogent, and convincing evidence necessary to overcome the presumptive correctness of the full value originally established by the Assessor. However, the Assessor indicated that the Appellant's property assessment could be given an one-time additional reduction of$60,000 to reflect the cost to install the liner. Chairman Gillette moved to overrule the Assessor's original valuation and apply the Assessor's suggested Valuation of$340,000 ($88,400 for the land and$251,600 for the improvements). After reviewing all the information submitted,the Board concurred that the appellant did not present clear, cogent, and convincing evidence necessary to overcome the presumptive correctness of the Assessor. Chairman Gillette moved to sustain the Assessor's valuation of$627,559 ($262,000 for the land and $365,559 for the improvements). Member Raab seconded the motion which carried by a unanimous vote.
