Many people are suffering from depression, anxiety, PTSD, amongst a myriad of physical comorbidities. Numerous studies released on psilocybin, ayahuasca, and other natural entheogens conclusively demonstrate they benefit mental health more successfully than many commercially available pharmaceuticals. While traditional 12-step programs have a success rate of between 8-20%, in treating substance use disorder, psychedelic therapy shows a success rate of 40-60%, including treatment of opioid dependence. Oregon and Colorado allow psilocybin services and decriminalized entheogens statewide. Over a dozen local governments including Seattle, Port Townsend, and counties such as Washtenaw County, Michigan have also decriminalized entheogens. This isn't a new idea, please pass this resolution and don't prosecute individuals for using every tool at their disposal to improve their lives.
