This is a letter in strong support of the resolution on entheogens before the commission.
These are natural and non-addictive medicines that have been used for generations by native people, and are now being recognized for the healing potential for many ailments in our larger
communities.
They have been used successfully in the treatment of PTSD, addiction, depression and other mental health problems. Not only are then not addictive, but in many cases they only need
to be used a very few times in order to be effective.
We so not want the production and distribution of entheogen to be a controlled by business interests, as is the case with cannabis products. Individuals should be allowed to grow and
use these natural medicines as they see fit.
Therefore, I urge you to vote to effectively decriminalize the growing, using and sharing of entheogens. This will reflect the values or our community and support the positions taken
by the City of Port Townsend and the Board of Health.
