Cearra's Cinnamon Rolls will join us to sell her amazing cinnamon rolls. We will have music, great Raffle Prizes and you will have an opportunity to see plans for Phase 2 and talk with the JUMP! Board and Landscape Architect, Ida Ottesen who worked with the County and JUMP! to create the playground you see today. We had hoped to build the entire playground as planned, but budget overruns didn't allow for this. What's missing is the play structure we had designed for the 2-5-year-olds. The space is already designated across from the swing set. Until we raise the funds to proceed with the project, this will be a natural grass play area. The playground equipment we chose is designed and rated for 2-5-year-olds and 5-12-year-olds. Separate play areas are designed into playgrounds, so the younger children don't get trampled or overwhelmed by all the big kids running around. We designed JUMP! with this in mind and want to complete our vision so all kids and their parents feel safe and have fun without worry. Most of the existing features at JUMP! are for the older crowd. The Net Climber, which is the FIRST ACCESSIBLE Net Climber in the state of Washington, is designed for the 5-12-year-olds, along with the Rock Climbing area and slide structure off the hill. The age limits are guidelines to give parents a sense of where the most appropriate area to play for their child is located. It doesn't mean the younger kids can't play on all of the equipment, but that those children under 5 playing in the 5-12-year-old play areas should be monitored more closely by their parents or caregivers. Conversely, if you are older than 12 you can still play on the playground and should be mindful of the younger children around you. JUMP! was created as an accessible and inclusive multi-generational gathering space for all families. We look forward to completing the playground so those families with younger children have a safe, separate play area with structures and sensory play geared for their age. Phase 2 is estimated to be $605,000, which includes installation of the 2-5-year old play structures with rubber tile surfacing, new Art Gate, Shade over plaza and new paths in the park to make it more accessible from the transit stop and Rotary pavilion. This includes tax, installation and is also adjusted for inflation. JUMP! and Parks & Rec are hoping to raise the 30% match required by the RCO (Recreation Conservation Office) <https://jumpplayground.us18.list-manage.com/track/click?u=026fe9cf2f2bf19fe17821626&id=a4 68ea7dca&e=86e960d295> where we will be applying again for another grant to fund the majority of this project. We are hoping to raise $150,000 with the County applying for 2 specific grants for $30,000. This will meet the requirements for the RCO, which so generously supported us on Phase 1 with the maximum $500,000 grant. We will be applying to the RCO in 2024 when the Local Parks grant category opens. We want to show the RCO that we have the Community Support and Finances to proceed with completing the JUMP! playground. You can help us by donating now and/or writing a letter of support to JUMP! which we will share with various granting agencies.
