The discussion earlier this week at the meeting of the County Commissioners was one of the most interesting and encouraging assemblies that I have attended since moving to Jefferson County in September. Thank you all for your willingness to listen carefully to your constituents and engage in serious consideration of this resolution. I’d like to respectfully re-iterate a few points. Once again, remember that we are your constituents and you are accountable to us. The point was made very passionately that it takes courage to be an official who is willing to help craft legal solutions when a law is unjust. Fortunately, the history of our country has involved this kind of bravery from elected officials. Your approval of the decriminalization of entheogens is critical so that the Port Townsend Psychedelic Society can continue to offer education, support, advocacy and community around these plants in order to improve the lives of residents in Jefferson County. I believe residents should be able to grow and use their own safe and natural medicines in a responsible manner in order to resolve addictive, medical, aging and End of Life care issues. We need this decriminalization resolution passed at the county level so that we can show real success locally while we also work state-wide. I made a statement last week so these are just add-ons from that statement. Again, thank you.
