We know the value of safeguarding and expanding carbon-rich forests on federal lands—it is one of the most important, cost-effective, and timely approaches to taking on the climate crisis. Tell USFS it's time to protect our forests and help safeguard our communities from the future impacts of climate change. <http://click.emails.sierraclub.org/?qs=654b3ff01f48ebee5402963eac5bb2ae3bb156 3dc9b97156db098cd578b6b342207907de97ac975e92456f308f197636b2b839734f8904711a0ef7561731d8d9> ________________________________ <http://click.emails.sierraclub.org/?qs=654b3ff01f48ebee6ff2f4ab090fa9d7979fd41119d3bc9ae9ee806a63a67b9119220892edce375a88932cfdb7e40bb72d34cd66a40433e4040cbe315b2733f6> Oil-soaked pelican in the Gulf of Mexico after the Deepwater Horizon explosion in 2010. | Photo by Julie Dermansky | Take Action | Protect the Gulf of Mexico from Oil and Gas Drilling <http://click.emails.sierraclub.org/?qs=654b3ff01f48ebeef64ba6903ce1033b218bfa8c77d6b958fa81e5defbf95dad61d0941d567f38a20069ee56e68b328e7b26e38bff fcf432b9079342ab7c31d2> Thirteen years ago, tragedy struck the Gulf of Mexico when the BP Deepwater Horizon drilling rig exploded, killing eleven workers and spewing more than 200 million gallons of oil. The environmental and economic impacts were devastating. More than one million seabirds died, 92,000 square miles of ocean water was contaminated, and countless lives and livelihoods were affected as industries and coastal businesses were shut down. More than a decade later—even as scientists are still studying the BP disaster's ongoing environmental impacts—new destructive oil and gas drilling is being planned. Tell the Biden administration to protect our coastlines and coastal communities from new offshore drilling. <http://click.emails.sierraclub.org/?qs=654b3ff01f48ebee95d6978c9f1c8eb4737bb02abe109f73396 5ef628dc628a25b630bbd62c15c51a146e7eeb3bd7a9c42c9ac05b72a79a640f9595dbf015523> ________________________________ <http://click.emails.sierraclub.org/?qs=654b3ff01f48ebee32cdd326619ac2369f99abe04875170fa391b3d175d7d223862177f47d51ae637d1e90196895adb34dcd55d36ea3827e> Flooded streets in Fort Lauderdale, Florida | Photo by iStock.com/JillianCain | En ingles y español | Las inundaciones, ríos que caen del cielo / Floods, Rivers That Fall From The Sky <http://click.emails.sierraclub.org/?qs=654b3ff01f48ebee0196db2a22df345a88a6425a5baab567b232eb86d4e8374bdd4fbf7d00482 05dfb32d318d99f63cc485e7ef83813fa08> Debido a la crisis climática, cada vez vemos con mayor frecuencia enormes inundaciones, como la que ocurrió hace poco en Ft. Today’s residents still encounter issues with infrastructure, adequate housing and adverse economic conditions as a result of these compounded multifaceted pressures. One major way to address some of these issues is to clean up the buildings in communities historically overburdened by pollution. The construction boom has brought a new focus to Yosemite's always challenging balancing act between conservation and the crush of millions of annual visitors. Park officials maintain that the construction is needed to accommodate visitors. People of color and low-income residents are more likely to live in communities with the greatest air pollution, in large part because major roadways, port hubs, power plants, freight hubs, refineries, and other industrial facilities are more often located next to the neighborhoods where they live.
