SUBJECT: Agenda Item — Interagency Agreement #K7850 between the Washington State
Employment Security Department and Jefferson County Public Health for the
Jefferson County Accessible Community Advisory Committee (ACAC); to increase
awareness and accessibility for County residents with disabilities; The Agreement
is for One Year from Execution; $7,000.00.
STATEMENT OF ISSUE:
Jefferson County Public Health, Developmental Disabilities Division, is requesting Board approval of
Interagency Agreement #K7850, by accepting grant funds from the Washington State Employment Security
Department. The Agreement is for one year upon signature; $7,000.00.
ANALYSIS/STRATEGIC GOALS/PRO'S and COWS:
Jefferson County Public Health, Developmental Disabilities Division, contracts with the Washington State
Employment Security Department to increase awareness, accessibility and to remove barriers for County
residents with disabilities. The Jefferson County Accessible Community Advisory Committee (ACAC) is
developing and implementing the following grant project: To create equitable and inclusive access to nature by
upgrading the facilities at the five -acre Illahee Preserve; so, it will be accessible to more than 3,630 Jefferson
County residents who experience disabilities.
FISCAL IMPACT/COST BENEFIT ANALYSIS:
This is a grant -funded project, which is budget neutral and has no impact on the general fund.

JEFFERSON COUNTY
ACCESSIBLE COMMUNITIES ADVISORY COMMITTEE (ACAC)
Project
To create disability access to Jefferson Land Trust's popular Illahee Preserve located
near Kala Point.
Overview
Jefferson Land Trust will upgrade the facilities at Illahee Preserve to be accessible to all.
This Land Trust property set on five acres showcases open space that overlooks forest
and salmon bearing Chimacum creek.
Timeline
It will take approximately 9 months to complete the project.
Resources required
Individual supplies and materials needed to open Illahee Preserve to all are: Landscape
fabric, landscape fabric staples, and gravel to build the trail from the parking area to the
open shelter; and a signpost and sign to designate an accessible parking spot at the
trailhead. This benefits people with disabilities by making our preserve available and
welcoming to all without exclusion.
