In lieu of continuing routine Network-specific potlucks through the growing season, we are excited to announce the Spring Social (hopefully the first of many) co-hosted by the Chimacum Grange and JCGN, on Wednesday, May 10th at the Grange. Starting at 7pm, this gathering is open to the public and potluck "optional", with the goal of creating an accessible, recurring space to celebrate and grow connections across the local farm/food community (which really is everybody, isn't it?!). Come early at 6:30 for the Grange/Network meeting if you want to get more involved in organizing, bring some food or drink if you'd like, or just show up. The gathering on Wednesday will feature Doyle's roast pig, so please consider bringing salad, bread, or side dishes. Some farmers will be featuring their produce and providing an abundance to share at each gathering, so no pressure to contribute! With the Chimacum Grange working to develop programming to support conversation and education around local issues and concerns, and with interest in seeing more farmers use the facilities for meetings and connection, it seems like a natural fit for the Network to work alongside the Grange when possible! Grange meetings are the second Wednesday of each month. We'd love to see you there! Beyond gatherings at the Grange, we invite JCGN participants to stay connected through the Discord server (great to see all the activity there!), to take initiative on hosting farm work parties, workshops or gatherings, cooperative ordering of ag supplies, equipment sharing, and more. If you have ideas for gatherings or initiatives, or needs or aspirations related to growing here, please use the network to share them! Lastly, we look forward to putting more energy into organizing again in the Fall! Remember, you can refer people to email jeffcogrowers@gmail.com <mailto:jeffcogrowers@gmail.com> if they want to sign up for the Discord or join the email list.
