Introductions: name, role in the community 3:35 Updates Coalition Action Plan Updates • Holly Gumm, Alicia Reynolds, and Lindsay will be presenting an abbreviated Guiding Good Choices session to the CONNECT Program group on February 16. • Guiding Good Choices Spring 2022, planning is in progress. • Discussed Policy workgroup, shifting from Comprehensive plan amendment to partnering with Prevention Voices. Identified volunteers from coalition to represent the group during the 2022 Legislative Session and contact our legislators. Lindsay will send out resources about advocacy/lobbying/education to all coalition members, and send email templates for specific bills on a rolling basis to Al Scalf, Kate Dean, Laura Tucker, and Holly McIlvaine. Discussed involvement in Community Health Improvement Plan now that it is hosted under the Board of Health, Lindsay will connect with CHIP Executive Director to attend Youth Age Band meetings. Community Updates • Holly McIlvaine updated the group on the first few weeks of the school year, COVID-19 cases have been a challenge. The Coalition Club meets on Wednesdays. • Susan O’Brien updated the group on the School Based Health Center, there is a new mental health provider- Andrea. • Discussed PTHS Student Assistance Professional position, hiring still in progress for the role. 4:00 Public Awareness/Positive Social Norms • Viewed slides on the timeline of the Coalition’s interest in hiring a student as a clerk- hire ‘Prevention Peer’ for the Public Awareness campaign/Positive Social Norms campaign. • Discussed how to move forward with this concept. Laura will share the information again with Students for Sustainability. Cheryl suggested that we could reach out to graduating seniors or Peninsula College students, and look into connecting the role to school credit. Kate described some of the barriers that teens experience in being a part of these type of roles, offered to connect a former CHIP Youth Age Band volunteer with the Coalition to describe why these roles aren’t accessible in practice to students. Lindsay will re-connect the original workgroup- LoLo, Karen, and Al, to discuss how to move forward with recruiting for this role. • Discussed hosting focus groups with the Blue Heron Coalition Club, Lindsay will follow up with Holly McIlvaine about this scheduling. 4:30 Close meeting Next meeting: February 22, 2022 3:30-4:30pm via Zoom Lindsay Scalf Pronouns: she/her Community Prevention and Wellness Initiative Coordinator Jefferson County Public Health
