HomeMy WebLinkAbout20220322_PT ETC Meeting Minutes Port Townsend Empowered Teens Coalition Meeting Minutes March 22, 2022 3:30-4:30pm Zoom Meeting Purpose of meeting: Planning for Drug Take Back and Guiding Good Choices Spring 2022 Facilitator for this meeting: Lindsay Scalf In attendance: Holly Gumm, LoLo Sherwood, Brett Navin, Josh ley, Al Scalf, Ciela Meyer, Holly McIlvaine, Laura Tucker, Cheryl Weinstein, Emily Abell Time Activity 3:30 Called meeting to order, Laura moved to approve minutes from February 2022, LoLo seconded, all were in favor. LoLo moved to approve the agenda, Al seconded, all were in favor. 3:35 Updates 1. A Student Assistance Professional has been hired at Port Townsend High School and will start April 11: Jessica Garcia. 2. Holly M and Brett shared about increases in certain concerning behaviors- vaping, Lindsay and Holly M will follow-up about scheduling vaping prevention education. 3. Discussed outreach events for Summer 2022- Rhody weekend, Chautauqua Community Congress Lottery- Emily will share the results of the Pfeiffer house incentive survey for 18-24-year olds, for us to see if there is information from that about what we could offer as an ‘experience’ for the lottery that would be most interesting to this age group. 3:50 Planning for upcoming Drug Take Back- April 30 10am-2pm LOCATIONs: QFC in Port Townsend, QFC IN Port Hadlock, and Fire station in Quilcene ADVERTISING: PT Leader- ad going out in 4/20 Edition Social media- post going out in April Flyering- ongoing KPTZ Enhanced PSAs- starting in April 3:55 Planning for Spring Guiding Good Choices 9 registrants so far Dates/Times Kick-off event via Zoom on Thursday March 31 6-7pm THEN, you can choose between attending 5 IN-PERSON sessions from 6-8pm on Tuesdays April 12, 19, 26 and May 3, 10 in-person in Quilcene at the Community Center or in Port Townsend at Blue Heron OR 5 VIRTUAL sessions from 6-8pm on Wednesdays April 13, 20, 27 and May 4, 11 via ZOOM 4:00 Confirmed timeline for reviewing data that will be made available this Spring 1. Healthy Youth Survey, workgroup will meet in April to review data, and then will share main takeaways with the rest of the coalition 2. Workgroup: Laura Tucker, Al Scalf, Holly McIlvaine, Lindsay Scalf 4:10 Discussed Youth Marijuana Prevention and Education Program updates- Laura acquired medication lock boxes to be distributed to patients at Jefferson Healthcare. Primary Care Providers will offer them to patients who are known to have children in the home. BIPOC group at PTHS is hoping to host a screening of ‘Who We Are’. Laura will follow up with Lindsay about finding funding for this if it doesn’t get approved through the YMPEP funding. Discussed BIPOC group programs at Blue Heron and PTHS Emily described a resource for Transgender community members, Lindsay will share it out with the rest of the coalition Emily described two job opportunities- Youth Coordinator with OlyCAP, and A Way Home Initiative Coordinator for Jefferson/Clallam County. 4:30 Closed meeting Next meeting: April 26, 2022 3:30-4:30pm via Zoom Lindsay Scalf Pronouns: she/her Community Prevention and Wellness Initiative Coordinator Jefferson County Public Health
